Peanut butter PB treats for birds!
All you need is
An opened pine cone! Open meaning all of the little tabs are out like a tree :)
Peanut butter of any kind! If you're allergic to peanut butter, animal fat or almond butter works great :D
Bird seed your local birds love!
Yarn, string, twine, whatever is handy
A butter knife or soft silicon spatula (I also find those frosting "knives" are perfect for this!)
A plate and some paper towels or a towel! (it's gonna get goopy!)
Take your pinecone and brush off any dirt or muck still attached to it, then tie your string to the top of the pinecone! (the top can be whichever way you decide, no stress here :D )
Pour your seed onto your plate before things get messy and from here, put on gloves if you don't like the sensory stick of peanut butter!
Spread your peanut butter or alternative generously over the peanut butter, making sure to get inside the tabs as well
Roll your pinecone into the seed mixture, taking extra time to push larger seeds like sunflower seeds deeper into the peanut butter to secure them.
Hang during the cold season to make your local winter birds happy! Note squirrels go nuts (haha) for these things so either hang them high or make some extras for your furry friends :D
We all do what we can to make earth a little greener! Thanks for stopping by!
